Overview

Appliance Technician Trainer

 

 

 

The Appliance Technician Trainer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering training programs that advance the technical expertise, diagnostic proficiency, and safety compliance of appliance technicians. This position is accountable for providing comprehensive instruction aligned with manufacturer requirements and company standards. The Trainer will collaborate with management to assess and identify areas where additional training is needed for each technician and conducts training sessions for maintenance partners and builder accounts as required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Design, plan, and deliver comprehensive training programs for new hires, apprentices, and experienced technicians.
  • Conduct classroom and hands-on sessions focused on appliance diagnostics, repair procedures, and maintenance.
  • Assist with coordinating manufacturer-sponsored training and certification programs in collaboration with internal leadership.
  • Support the development of defined career paths from apprentices to senior technicians.
  • Provide field ride-alongs, coaching, and mentorship to technicians requiring additional guidance or performance improvement.
  • Reinforce company safety policies and promote compliance with EPA, OSHA, and manufacturer servicing standards.
  • Evaluate technician performance and identify skill gaps through ride-alongs, shop assessments, and manager feedback.
  • Maintain training documentation, reference materials, and technical assessment.
  • Promote professionalism, effective customer communication, and adherence to company service standards.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance service quality, productivity, and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Assist technicians on service calls that present teachable moments and opportunities for skill development.
  • Other tasks and duties to support the success of the Company and Service Department.

 

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a factory-trained appliance technician.
  • Strong knowledge of appliance repair processes and procedures, with experience mentoring and guiding junior technicians.
  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and repairing major residential appliances.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with a collaborative approach to supporting colleagues.
  • Organized, patient, and detail-oriented with a focus on technician success.
  • Proficient in communicating clearly, diagnosing problems, and managing conflicts efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency across a technical team. 
  • Prior experience leading, mentoring, or training technicians preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and coaching skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Adaptability and willingness to stay updated on new technologies, appliance models, and repair techniques. 
  • Ability to interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, EPASS, and manufacturer training portals.

  

License/Certification

  • Valid driver’s license

 

Work Location/Hours

  • Robinson / Monday – Friday 8:00 – 4:30 and every fourth Saturday
  • Regular travel to customer locations and training sites may be required.
